Terms of Use
Effective date: August 30, 2025
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the LockIn mobile application and related pages (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1) Eligibility and Accounts
You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age requiring parental consent in your region, use the app only with permission from a parent or guardian.
During signup, we verify that you are 13 years or older.
You are responsible for the accuracy of any information you provide and for maintaining the security of your device and account.
Verification emails may be sent to confirm ownership; verification codes expire in 10 minutes.
2) License and Restrictions
We grant you a limited, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on your device(s) for personal, non‑commercial use.
You may not: copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code (except where permitted by applicable law); remove proprietary notices; rent, lease, sublicense, sell, or redistribute the app or any part of it.
3) App Functionality and Limitations
The app provides focus tools (e.g., timer/stopwatch, optional blocking of selected apps) and related features (e.g., streaks, stats, customization).
App blocking has platform and device limitations. Some system apps, notifications, and OS areas may not be blockable. We do not guarantee that all distractions will be blocked.
Use the Service safely and lawfully. Do not use while driving or in hazardous situations.
4) Sessions, Controls, and Settings
You can choose timer or stopwatch mode. In timer mode, you choose session length; ending early may trigger an ad if enabled.
Hold‑to‑unlock delay is configurable in Settings (1–10 seconds).
Certain settings and preferences may sync to your account to provide cross‑device consistency.
5) Ads and Monetization
Ads are toggleable. If enabled, a "punishment" ad may show when you end a timer early. Optional rewarded ads can be watched to "support the developer."
Ad personalization depends on your consent (via UMP/ATT) and device settings. If you do not consent, you may receive non‑personalized ads where applicable.
6) Virtual Currency ("Minutes")
You may earn "minutes" for focus activities or by viewing rewarded ads. Minutes can be used for in‑app customization.
Minutes have no cash value, are non‑transferable, and are not redeemable for money or other consideration. We may modify earning/spending rules, adjust balances for fraud/abuse, or discontinue coins at any time.
7) Privacy and Consent
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why, including account information (email, age verification), preferences (e.g., selected apps to block/allow), usage metrics (sessions, totals, streaks), and diagnostics.
You can manage ad/consent choices in Settings > Privacy (and via device settings). Some essential data may continue to be processed to deliver core functionality and sync.
The Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference into these Terms.
8) User Content and Feedback
If you submit feedback, support requests, or other content, you grant us a worldwide, non‑exclusive, royalty‑free license to use it to operate, improve, and promote the Service.
Do not submit unlawful, harmful, infringing, or abusive content.
9) Prohibited Conduct
Do not misuse the Service, including: interfering with operation; circumventing technical measures; reverse engineering; using the Service for illegal purposes; infringing the rights of others; scraping or automated access without permission.
10) Ownership and IP
LockIn, including all software, UI, trademarks, and content, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. No rights are granted except as expressly stated in these Terms.
11) Third‑Party Services and Links
The Service integrates third parties (e.g., Google Firebase, Google AdMob). Your use of those services may be subject to their terms and policies. We are not responsible for third‑party content or practices.
12) Disclaimers
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non‑infringement.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error‑free features, complete blocking of apps, or that the Service meets your requirements.
13) Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service.
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to use the Service in the 12 months before the claim (if any), or (b) USD $50, unless a different minimum is required by law.
14) Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless us and our affiliates from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
15) Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access (with or without notice) if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or as needed for security, legal, or operational reasons.
Upon termination, the license granted to you ends. Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g., ownership, disclaimers, limitations, indemnity) will survive.
16) Changes to the Service and Terms
Features may change, be suspended, or discontinued at any time. We may update these Terms; we'll update the "Effective date" above and may provide in‑app or site notice for material changes. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
17) Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States, without regard to conflict‑of‑law rules. Where permitted, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Hamilton County, Tennessee. Local mandatory consumer protections still apply.
18) Contact
For questions or requests, use the Contact Us page or the in‑app Send Feedback option.
